In a very exciting game at the Mardyke on Saturday UCC powered out to a 25-20 victory over Dublin University in the 2024 Colours Match. First half tries by George Rasmussen (2 tries) and David Cogan in injury time gave UCC a 20-3 half-time lead. The other first half-scorers were Daniel Squires (penalty) before he went off injured and Ben O'Connor (conversion) who took over the kicking duties.

In the second half UCC and Trinity swapped tries in the first 23 minutes to make it 25-10 with 17 minutes to go. UCC's fourth try was scored by Sean Condon. Sean is the leading try scorer for UCC with five so far this year. Trinity played well to score two more unconverted tries in the last 17 minutes despite UCC's dogged defence. In the end UCC were well in control and the game finished 25-20.

Earlier in the day UCC Rugby President Charlie Haly hosted the Annual Colours Lunch. John Ryan from Munster Rugby (a UCC Rugby Alumnus) was the guest speaker. Three players from the 1964 UCC team (captain Paddy McGrath from Canada), Bill Guiney and Len Harty) and 19 past players from the 1974 team lead by captain Pat Parfrey who flew in from Newfoundland were in attendance.
